The New Business Underwriter (Mid-Market) will help drive and transform how they partner their broker portfolios, through responsive, flexible and collaborative relationships. With a strong balance of technical and trading capability, you will be empowered to make decisions, whilst supported by data, insight, and decision support tools on mobile technology to succeed in the role. There will be focus on developing and delivering profitable growth, across new existing business within the key markets.
They work smart, empowering their people to balance your time between home and the office in a way that works best for you, your team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of their office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
This role requires some travel, when necessary, within the nominated area, and being out seeing your broker panel on occasions.
What you'll be doing:
As a New Business P&C Commercial Underwriter you’ll help drive and transform how they partner their brokers through responsive, flexible, and collaborative relationships. With a balance of technical and trading capability, you’ll be empowered to make decisions, supported by data, insight, and decision support tools. You’ll be focused on developing and delivering profitable growth, across new business within the key markets.
- Underwrite Property & Casualty business profitably in line with established underwriting practices, using the full range of tools available.
- Build a reputation as a trading expert with a panel of intermediaries and build confidence in the branch ability through interaction with their Underwriting Technical Centre.
What they’re looking for:
- Expert technical underwriting knowledge with demonstrable experience in one or more mid-market classes
- Insight development, customer and broker portfolio relationship management
- Personal impact and influence, with negotiation and persuasion skills
- Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Risk advisory, selection & assessment
Very competitive basic salary dependant on experience up to £50K, PMI, bonus incentive and pension plus other employee benefits would be provided as standard. ACII or a commitment to continuous professional development would be advantageous.
